Second-Hand Clothing Consignment Terms

At Secondli, we try to be as inclusive as possible in the items we accept in consignment, while taking into account the limited space of the store and the preferences of the second-hand market. This is why we have to prioritize certain items over others, based on our experience of the styles most sought after by our customers.

If you want to sell your clothes with us, the first step is to read and accept these terms. You can then book an appointment for your first drop-off so we can open your account.

New Account and First Deposit

To open your consignment account and make your first deposit, you must schedule an appointment on our website. You will need to provide your contact information and accept these terms no later than at the time of your first deposit. We will proceed with opening your account on-site during your appointment.

Item Selection and Evaluation

Once your account is open, you can bring items without an appointment at any time during our opening hours. Each deposit requires about 15 minutes for a preliminary selection with you.

Even if a preliminary selection is conducted in your presence, the official selection process takes about two weeks. Items are evaluated based on their popularity with our customers, type, condition, quality, and market prices (new and second-hand). The acceptance or rejection of an item is at our sole discretion.

Once the selection process is complete, we will email you a list of the accepted items with their initial price. You have 48 hours to request price adjustments. We can accept up to a 15% increase from the initial price upon your request.

Item Sale

Items will be offered online and in our physical store on Mont-Royal Avenue or, if deemed preferable, through other sales channels or platforms. The consignment period begins on the date an item is accepted and ends either upon its sale or when we inform you that it can no longer be kept in the store.

If you wish to retrieve unsold items, you can do so starting from the second month by notifying us via email.

During the first two months, we may apply a discount of up to 25% on the initial price of an item to facilitate its sale. After the second month, a discount of up to 40% may be applied if the item remains unsold.

As long as you have items for sale with us, you will have access to a client portal where you can track your items, sales, and account balance.

Commissions and Store Credits

A commission will be added to your account for each item sold. Your commission is equal to the sales price multiplied by the corresponding percentage from the following table:

  • $49 and less: 30%
  • $50 to $99: 40%
  • $100 to $199: 50%
  • $200 and more: 60%

The balance of your account will be increased by 10% when you use it to make in-store purchases.

If you prefer to cash out your commissions, you can collect your account balance in cash directly in-store during our opening hours. You can also request an Interac transfer via email. We will process your request within 3 business days. For Interac transfers under $50, a $2 processing fee will be deducted unless all your items have been sold.

Unaccepted or Unsold Items

You will be notified by email of items that are either initially refused or remain unsold. If you do not retrieve these items within 2 weeks, you forfeit all rights, titles, and interests in them, and they will become our property. We will donate unclaimed items to a local organization or repurpose them through other upcycling initiatives.

Communications and Updates

We collect your consent to receive various electronic notifications from Secondli. You can withdraw your consent at any time by clicking "Unsubscribe" at the bottom of the email or by contacting us at client@secondli.ca. However, we are not responsible for items that may be donated if you choose to stop receiving notifications from us.

We may update the consignment terms from time to time. Any changes will be communicated via email. You are free to request the return of your consigned items if you do not agree with the changes made.
